Daily Doodle: In the Middle of a Lake

Song of the Day: Just a Short Time After (Reconstruction Pt. 1) by Javier Navarrete feat. The Landau Orchestra (from the Extended Version of the Pan’s Labyrinth soundtrack)

Musical Pipe Dream: I’ve thought about this one for a long time.

There would be a show with an orchestra and performers that would dance to the live music. The cast would consist of a main female and a main male and sixteen dancers to flock them. The costumes are leotards and tutus that are a pale blue. The makeup is pasty and crusty and it even cakes and crackles on the dancers’ shoulders. At the beginning, a single, blue spotlight is on the main female dancer. When the cello is being plucked, she is on point on her left foot and extends her right leg from front to back, doing lyrical movements that match the cello. As the horn section rolls in, the lights brighten to the outer parts of the stage and have an orange glow that contrasts with the blue center. The main male and sixteen dancers move in closer and closer towards the blue light until the main male meets the main female. He holds both of her hands and she does similar movements as in the beginning with her legs, but this time she’s pushing even farther, extending her flexibility. She doesn’t fall because her hands are being held. The sixteen dancers are on their knees and follow the lyricism of the horns as they sweep the floor to and fro with the palms of their hands. They circle be on their backs and sweep the floor with the backs of their fingers. The movements of all of the dancers get stronger until they’re all moving at the same pace and in unison. The number ends with the sixteen dancers in a tight circle around the main dancers all raising their heads on the last beat. They are looking straight up into a single spotlight that shines orange.

As for me, I would love to be the saxophonist in the second chair. For the horn portion of the piece, all of us would stand up and raise our shoulders and swing our saxophones to the beat. As we keep blowing our horns until the last moment, the lights black out on us while we’re still standing as the orange light shines down on the dancers.

Do you think that Javier Navarrette, The Landau Orchestra, and a dance company would be into doing something like this?

Blurb 1/365: I had food poisoning a few weeks ago and I threw up (and ruined) our trash can in the bathroom. I feel completely better now and we got a new trash can and I was happy about it so I danced.

Daily Doodle: Napping at the Dentist

Song of the Day: I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me) by Whitney Houston

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eH3giaIzONA

Musical Pipe Dream: I’m dancing on a dance floor covered in balloons.

Blurb 1/365: When I’m getting X-rays done at the dentist, I always enjoy when they put the lead apron on me. It’s like being swaddled. I went to the dentist today and the hygienist put the lead apron on me and stepped away to push the X-ray button. Whitney Houston was playing on the ceiling speakers at a low level. I closed my eyes and felt like I could have almost fallen asleep.

Song of the Day: The World Is Getting Smaller by Mark Dinning

Musical Pipe Dream: I’m slightly outside of the spotlight. You can see enough of the skirt of my dress to see me swaying to the beat and tapping my foot. I’m harmonizing and singing backup.

Blurb 1/365: The day that one learns to appreciate life is the day that one starts living.

Song of the Day: The Stroll by The Diamonds

Musical Pipe Dream: I have a strap around my neck that is attached to my saxophone. When I’m not playing the saxophone, I swing it like an oar, to and fro. My feet are tapping to the beat with each heel stepping forward on the opposite side of the saxophone. When the saxophone chimes in, I lean forward for the first note, then lean back and move the saxophone in a circle motion on the syncopation. Then I fall back into line and keep rowing and tapping.

Blurb 1/365: I’m gonna rock their socks off!

Song of the Day: Sekai Wa Futari No Tame Ni by Naomi Sagara

Musical Pipe Dream: My mom is singing and swaying in the middle of the living room while my dad is sitting on the couch and playing the acoustic guitar. My sisters and I are lounging around the dining table and we chime in for the harmony. There are plentiful snacks and drinks at the table. My brothers-in-law and husband are playing a game of cards. My nieces are dancing and holding hands. The dogs are napping and curled up into little croissant shapes.

Blurb 1/365: It was kinda crazy, so I just decided to take that time to talk to the Universe.

Daily Doodle: Space Music (a doodle drawn while my Mom kicked all of our butts at playing Dominion tonight!)

Song of the Day: Space Oddity by David Bowie

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uhSYbRiYwTY

Musical Pipe Dream: For about 10 years, I have had a complete vision of an animation I want to create in the Ender universe with Space Oddity being the soundtrack. It would be about the time in Battle School where they don’t tell Ender and his toons about a battle until the last minute. It would show them eating breakfast, all the other armies being ready in the Battle Room, Ender jogging towards the Battle Room and jumping up to touch a part of the ceiling, his army jogging close behind him and jumping up to touch the same part of the ceiling, the Battle Room door opening, and epic battle of skill, desperation, and deceit, and ultimately triumph as a soldier passes through the door. The animation continues with Ender in space in a ship with three seats, out of the spaceship window is a view from Earth at a distance, a flash of Ender facing two empty seats, a flash of Ender facing seats occupied by Peter and Valentine, then a flash of Ender alone again, far away. Finally, a view of an interpretive figure of Jane as she dances, hops on stars, and flows through space.

Blurb 1/365: It’s all up there in my head, all I have to do is get it down there to reality.

Daily Doodle: I’m Feeling Better Today

Song of the Day: Money by Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qse5YVPUOrI

Musical Pipe Dream: I’ve imagined myself being all the different pieces of Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings’ band. In this song, I imagine myself in the horn section. Tucked over in stage left, two stepping to the beat, swaying when appropriate, and blowing that horn.

Blurb 1/365: Money, need it. Too much money, don’t want it.

Song of the Day: Yesterday Once More by The Carpenters

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YTaWayUE5XA

Musical Pipe Dream: My mom used to sing this on the Karaoke (Ka-ra-oh-kay) machine, so I remember lounging on the couch while she sang like a bird. It would be awesome if I could jam on the piano and she sing under a spotlight. Maybe we’ll work on that :O)

Blurb 1/365: Hug somebody today.
